gear that takes you there

So everyone knows how useful a dry bag can be: every use from keeping valuables dry to a comfy pillow and a compression sack, but do you know of the other funny looking dry bags in the shop?

Exotic dry bags are designed for specific uses, for example the padded camera bags and cell phone pouches. Like all dry bags they require faith and skill: faith that they will hold while you’re getting dumped by that 12 foot wave or capsizing thanks to the dim-witted guy on the right side paddle, and your skill in turning over the top, securing the bag dry.

So what cements this faith? Well for starters some kind of double security would be nice, so what about a zip lock rolled over with some burly waterproof fabric? POE does a good range of bags with just these features such as the F-Trail Zoom, a bag designed for SLR cameras and so appropriately padded. Yes, that R599 bag is saving you R20k for a new camera and lens- a worthy investment. They do a range including smaller versions for half zooms and point-and-shoots.

And the Skill? In three words “Attention to Detail”, like all bags using the role down system it wants a neat, tight job that is securely fastened. All the decent bags on the market have been well tested before you even heard of the product, if there was a design flaw they would have been pulled from the market BUT if you fluff the role down technique your valuables won’t necessarily be safe, so take your time and do it properly.

The range of these things is extensive and so I won’t bore you with a listing but to say check out there website: http://pacoutdoor.com/water-gear, they probably have a solution to your problem.
