POE Easy Chair Review

The phrase “have a seat” sparks off images of cozy environments in the homes of friends and family. Usually they are the words uttered at the start of a visit and are followed by a cup of tea and cake. Nice! Well, now you can take that mental image outside with the Pacific Outdoor Equipment (POE) Easy chair.

How many times have you arrived and wished you had a chair or at least some kind of back support when lounging around the campfire or chilling after a day out in the sun. Somehow outdoor furniture seems to be the last thing we think of and even then it’s fobbed off because it takes up to much space.

I remember pulling into Hartenbos Campsite in Mossel Bay in the early evening after having missioned all the way from Cape Town to do the Gouritz river bridge swing with a Swiss friend of ours. Five people in a Citi golf was “toit” to say the least. What made it even worse was pitching our two tiny tents in the bare camping spot in the huge shadows of caravanning holiday makers that literally bring everything including the kitchen sink and DSTV on their camp trips. We sat on the floor for the evening feeling pretty uncomfortable and like we definitely didn’t fit in with the Jones’s. Having a few of these easy chairs would have made our evening a lot more enjoyable and we probably would have fitted five of them in the car with relative ease.

The easy chair will definitely not be on the list of the weight conscious, fast and light camper or hiker but for the camper looking for a little more comfort it is a superb choice. The chair is also really versatile and is the ideal companion for Mom and Dad when attending sports games (read Mothers and Fathers day gift here or Dads next birthday present). How many hours do loving parents spend on cold metal grand stands- shame.

Sunset concerts and picnics are another ideal habitat for the easy chair. Whip it out and you are sure to be the envy of a few of your friends. In addition, it’s the ideal item to start some “extreme easy chairing” which is a mixture of wheel chair wheelie contest and what you used to do on school chairs back at school pitting yourself against your friends to see who could be on the chairs back legs with your feet off the ground for the longest time.

The chair is also the ideal companion for canoe or boat fishing when a little extra back support is needed or as an alternative to having the boats fiberglass ridge sticking into your back – comfortable!

Some added features include:

· Handle for easy convenient carrying, it’s an ideal item to leave in your boot together with the umbrella for watching sport.

· Elasticized pouch for snacks, magazines or newspaper

· Easy adjustable straps for your choice of lazy boy or stiff upper lip posture

· Rough durable material in serviceable practical colours making it easy to clean and hides the dirt.

· Good density foam padding giving the ideal balance between comfort and support and making it hard enough to hide the feeling of small stones and sticks.

For the techies, some specifications include:

Size: 43x 84x 1.25

Weight: 580 grams

Colours: Forest, Royal

Cost: Around R250
