How does it work?

For every route you climb, you give a certain amount of money to an institution or cause of your choice. The harder the route you climb, the more money you commit to giving (see example below).

The money you give does not have to come out of your own pocket, but you can get people/businesses to sponsor you. Or better yet, get people/businesses to match whatever you give. It is about committing to make a difference.

Getting started:

1 - Find an organisation that you would like to support
2 - Decide on X amount for 1 grade above your hardest redpoint (*)
3 - Start Cranking

4 - Get people/businesses to match your donation

* - X is the amount you vow to donate to the organisation you support when you climb your personal best.
X/2 is the amount you'll donate for every route you do at your current best
X/4 is the amount you'll donate for every route you do 1 grade below your current best.
etc...

Example:
You decide X = R1024
Your hardest redpoint to date is a 26(7b). For every 26(7b) you climb you'll donate R512, for every 25(7a+) you climb you'll donate R256, etc. When you climb your first 27(7b+), you'll donate R1024. From then on the scale shifts. Your new R1024 high point is grade 28(7c) and for every 27(7b+) there after you'll donate R512.

It takes time to push up your personal best with one grade, so during that time you can get people/organisations to sponsor/help with your donation for that route.

Remember the value of X is in your hands, so you can start low and shift it up as you get others to help. BUT try to never lower it.
