"Education Through Adventure"

With the current state of our planet and the damage sustained by our fragile environment in mind this page is designed to share with you what we find on our trips, expeditions and adventures. For it is truly when we sit in the middle of nowhere with nothing, that we realise the magnitude of life around us and our dilemma. We go to the mountains to listen for that which we cannot hear, to see that which cannot be seen and feel that which cannot be felt. Yet all of these can be missed for they are but a breath.

It is for this very reason that “explore4knowledge” exists, in order to attempt to catch the moments which Jan Christiaan Smuts so well describes, “When we reach the mountain summits we leave behind all the things that weigh heavily on our body and our spirit. We leave behind all sense of depression; we feel a new freedom, a great exhilaration of the body no less than the spirit.” We aim to use our explorations and trips documented on this web site to capture that breath, that sight and that moment it time that can be explained to no other. We hope that in sharing our dreams with us that we are able to inspire you to follow your dreams.

In closing I would like to share wise words from good friend Braam Malherber which I think explains Explore4Knowledge well, “Not just adventure for the sake of adrenaline that seems to be in fashion, but a path that would lead me to greater personal wisdom, as well as a greater understanding of the issues facing us as the custodians of this fragile planet".
